Nick is the founder of Lanese & Associates, an affiliate of Cohen & Company.
Nick was born and raised in Highland Heights, Ohio (a suburb of Cleveland).
He graduated with honors in 1983 from John Carroll University in Ohio, with an
accounting degree. Nick became a C.P.A. shortly thereafter and went to work for
Cohen & Company in Cleveland, Ohio. Nick moved to Tampa in 1986 to escape Ohio's
harsh winters and went to work for a regional CPA firm located in downtown Tampa.
He soon decided he wanted to be his own boss and started Lanese & Associates, Inc.,
in 1987.

Rick (Nick's brother and partner) was also born and raised in Highland Heights,
Ohio, and graduated from John Carroll University in 1981. Rick earned his CPA
certificate but went to work in industrial accounting (LTV Steel Company) rather
than the public accounting field. Rick left the snow behind in 1987. He worked as a
controller for a general contractor until 1993. Rick graduated from the University of
South Florida (USF) with a MBA in May 1993 at which time he moved to Tennessee with
his wife, where he worked for the City of Chattanooga as a financial / legislative
analyst. In 1997 he moved back to Florida to become Nick's partner at Lanese & Associates,
Inc.

Karen works part-time specializing in individual taxes, trusts, estates and non-profits.
Karen graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor’s in Accounting, from the University
of Akron with a Master’s of Taxation and from the University of South Florida with a Ph.D. in Business.
She holds an active CPA license in Florida. Karen also started her accounting career with Cohen &
Company in Cleveland where she met her husband Rick. Upon moving to Florida with Rick and Nick,
she worked in tax for one of the then Big Six firms in Tampa. After completing her Ph.D., Karen
taught at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga for four years. In 1997, Rick and Karen moved
back to Florida to join Nick working at Lanese & Associates. Her work with Lanese & Associates
allows her to balance a demanding accounting career with her more important duties as a mother
of two children.

Clare is a licensed Florida CPA who graduated from the University of Florida with a
master’s degree in accounting (a proud gator!). She has been with Lanese & Associates
since February 2006. Her experience is diverse in tax and accounting for various
types of business entities.

Paula and her husband Mike are Sun City Center residents. She has enjoyed a long
career encompassing almost every aspect of bookkeeping for varied companies and
industries, including running her own bookkeeping service and managing the books
for her husband's consulting firm in Atlanta, Georgia. Paula feels that with Lanese &
Associates, she has found the best of all worlds: A great place to work with wonderful
clients.

Kevin, a staff accountant, joined Lanese in 2007. When not
busy preparing tax returns he enjoys reading, listening to music,
watching sports and spending time with his wife, Brandi and
daughter, Abigail.

Tammy, a staff accountant, joined Lanese in 2007. When not busy assisting individuals and small
businesses with bookkeeping, Tammy enjoys the beach, horse back riding,
family BBQ’s or coming up with excuses to spend time with her family and friends.

Brenda, a staff accountant, joined Lanese in 2007 and spends her days assisting clients with all aspects of their tax-related
needs. She holds a BS from George Mason University and earned her MBA from Regis University.

GraceAnn is the Office Manager at Lanese & Associates, Inc., and yes,
another family member. GraceAnn moved to Florida in 1997 with her husband
and three children. GraceAnn now enjoys 2 grandchildren. Although her background
is in early childhood education, she has learned much about computers and taxes
since working with her brothers.

Jana is the friendly voice you hear when you call the office (most of the time).
Jana started working for Lanese & Associates in December of 2004. Prior to that she
worked for a CPA in Tampa. She lives in Valrico and has spent most of her life working
in the food industry. She has two goofy cats (Simon & Arthur) that keep her entertained
all of the time. She enjoys music, good food, good wine, and hanging out with friends;
and of course, long walks on the beach and sunsets!
